Machine Learner
machine learner makes beat-focused music with guitars and synthesizers, creating emotive compositions with sweet melodies and hypnotic elements that take listeners on a journey. The sound melds influences ranging from 60’s pop psychedelia, 90's rock, and 00’s post punk and electronica.

machine learner is the alias of Walter Young, a lifelong passionate fan of music. He played guitar, drums, and wrote for Alexander's Dark Heart. In 2014, he co-wrote the electro-pop album Echo Victor with Loki Antiphony. He currently releases music as machine learner as well as produces and co-writes for the dream pop trio Arabica Futures.

The Marzie & Machine: Tracing an Illicit Waveform EP was released in early 2021, a collaboration with friend Marzipan Kitten. In late 2022, machine learner released Stood Up and Arabica Futures' first single, Flyover State. Early 2023 saw more collaborations with Marzipan Kitten including the experimental synthwave of Signal for Safe Passage, the jungle Tracing an Illicit Waveform Remixes EP by Dwain, and more.
Marzipan Kitten

The Marzipan Kitten project is all about debuting poorly and then finding those incremental increases in quality with each album. Beholden to no one style, Marzipan has released three EPs and one album, 2014's celebrated Dream Traffic Control.

Arabica Futures

Arabica Futures is the dreampop trio collaboration of Jack Boettcher, Nicole Walter, and Walter Young. Hatched in Seattle in the summer of 2021, the project is now a long-distance collaboration. The first single was released in late 2022, with the second set for early 2023.

Echo Victor
Echo Victor recorded their electro-pop album in a small studio in the heat of the Mississippi summer in the heart of midtown Jackson, MS. Combining disparate influences such as hip hop, electronic music, and their time in indie rock bands, the duo used a sample-based approach mixed with live instrumentation that gave the album a unique and rhythmic sound. Echo Victor is the product of Loki Antiphony and Walter Young (aka Machine Learner, also of Arabica Futures). The two musicians collaborated on all writing and performing while Loki Antiphony produced and mixed the album.
Alexander's Dark Heart
Alexander's Dark Heart began at the end of the last century and disbanded in 2005, although the band did get together again a few more times in 2011 & 2012. Originally feature Walter Young, Roy Geoghegan, and Katy Smith, the lineup changed to a duo before eventually gained Jim Henegan and Daniel Johnson. They played lots of shows in support of the 2005 album The Aleph and recorded the majority of their unreleased follow-up album, Geography of the Heart.
The Try Force
The Try Force was active between 2005 and 2007 and feature Jim Henegan on guitar and vocals, daniel johnson on microkorg, sampler, and vocals, and Walter Young on drums.
Walter Young
Walter Young released music under his own name from roughly 2004 until 2014, or between the Alexander's Dark Heart and Echo Victor musical projects. All releases were home-recorded in Mississippi, often featuring guest appearance by collaborator Daniel Johnson.
